“I think the author needs a hug, and maybe a puppy. But whatever mad demons lurk in her mind, they’ve been a boon to her creativity.” – Amazon review of Diabolical Dreamscapes

Common themes in my writing

Let’s face it: I love horror. Ever since I was a young child, I have enjoyed the chill brought on by ghost stories. Yet it’s not the only genre I write; indeed, contrary to invoking the dead, my stories are very human.

All of my work, whether it’s a ghost or psychological horror novel, or an experimental poetry collection, comprises writing that confronts the nature of self. This can mean my writing gets quite uncomfortable to read at times; my books aren’t for everyone.

No matter the genre of my fiction, my novels start with main characters who think they know themselves, go through a crisis of identity and create a new sense of self. Similarly, my verse explores issues of identity and the darker aspects of the psyche. All of my poetry books confront the nature of self.

You can read a more in depth look at this topic on my blog post here discussing different genres, common theme.

Current writing projects

Since May 2023, I’ve been working on a ghost horror novel. Novel WIP#7 is set in Hammersmith and Fulham, London. It was inspired by a short story I wrote back in 2009, and after an idea struck, I have been expanding this into a novel length story. I’m currently up to 64k words (October 2025).

Past writing projects:

Novel WIP#8 became The Wabi-sabi Doll

Fiction WIP#10 became Love you to Death

Fiction WIP#9 became Pseudologia Fantastica

Novel WIP#6 became Matthew’s Twin

Novel WIP#5 became The Fairy Lights

Novel WIP#4 became The Blue Man

Novel WIP#3 became The Buddha’s Bone

Novel WIP#2 became Gods of Avalon Road
