This summer I’ve been working out in between writing stints. After all, flaccid arms are no good for writing a new novel manuscript, and I’m up to 37k words already. I also finished final edits on the ghost horror novel I’ve been working on for the past 3 years, getting it as polished as can be, as I plan to put it out on submission. Exciting!
Write ghost novels and exercise (in Halloween clothing)
Also, on the keto/intermittent fasting and exercise front, I’ve lost 10lbs since 18th June. Not bad for 10 weeks, hurray!
BTW, does anyone else find that coffee is a great painkiller for working out? I find it’s a great companion when doing weights/boxing workouts and helps me to push myself further. Anyone relate?

Her writing confronts the nature of self; her novels feature main characters on a dark psychological journey who have a crisis and create a new sense of identity. She began writing for publication while working as an English teacher in Japan, a career pathway that has influenced themes in her writing. Her former career as an Archaeologist has also inspired her writing and she has incorporated elements of archaeology and mythology into both her fiction and poetry.
In addition to promoting her own work, Leilanie runs Bindweed Anthologies, a creative writing publication with her writer husband, Joseph Robert. Aside from publishing pursuits, Leilanie enjoys spending time with her husband and their lively literary lad, a voracious reader of sea monster books.
‘Flaccid arms are no good for writing a new novel manuscript’? Maybe that’s why I can’t get it going at present; but I’ve been exercising them forever and they ain’t changing. Truth is, I’ve past the point where exercise is going to help; but I keep going anyway. You’re doing well with the exercise, weight loss and word count though, so keep up the good work. 🙂
Thanks for the words of support! I’d better not let the bots hear me talking about having flaccid arms, or AI will steal my job and write books instead of me…oh, wait, that’s already happening to us Indie authors 😬. Anyway, I stay strong in body and mind while I can and keep writing; looks like you’re doing a great job getting your books out into the world, so I’d say your arms are strong enough for the job too. 😉

Yeah, those eavesdropping bots! Stay strong. 😊
